Interview testimony, source synthesis and claim ownership

Keep an authentic speaker, original statement and supporting record distinct before publishing a profile.

An editorial question is not an answer from the subject

A question-led profile can organize useful analysis without representing an actual interview. If no transcript, recording or approved written response was supplied, do not attribute invented speech to a real person. A published third-party interview is a source with its own rights and context, not an original FTM engagement. The older question-note routes now carry that scope explicitly. Their names and useful questions remain available, while unsupported access claims are corrected. A complete dossier asks for the actual speaker record rather than fabricate a plausible response.

Testimony and numerical corroboration have different scope

An authentic statement supports what a person said. It does not automatically verify the described account return, credential or population. A broker record, credential issuer or organiser table supports another identified object. Preserve the exact account, period, costs and source ownership. A genuinely sourced quote can remain interesting while a financial claim remains unresolved. Do not treat repeated quotation across related publications as independent corroboration. The magazine supplies no private transcript or actual broker audit in this edition, so its profile analysis cannot claim both were inspected.

A byline and date need authentic provenance too

Institutional attribution identifies the current publication's editorial synthesis, not an employed staff panel. A template date cannot authenticate a historic conversation or issue distribution. Claimed prior employer affiliations and reporting awards need real records and consent. This edition replaces unsupported biographies with role requirements rather than invented journalists. A future authentic engagement should identify responsible author, source rights, access scope and publication version. It should not inherit a fabricated newsroom history simply because the page has an old filename and professional typography.

A correction can preserve the valuable idea

When quotation provenance is absent, retain a useful analytical proposition as editorial discussion and remove the false speaker attribution. When a precise claim lacks records, narrow it to the next required evidence instead of invent a substitute number. Material changes should be recorded with their effect on the headline or conclusion. Source synthesis, testimony and independently reproduced financial results remain separate labels. The new fictional profile dossier demonstrates that distinction while actual transcript and audit fields remain null. A later real source must have its own version and scoped finding.

Authored editorial case

Authored case: a fictional profile draft contains a vivid risk-management sentence but no authenticated interview. The editor preserves the idea as discussion, not a quotation by a named trader. Its numerical performance claim still needs an original account record and cost convention. The dossier has all fields written yet the transcript and audit remain null. It illustrates a corrected reporting contract rather than evidence an actual person made the statement.

Primary mechanisms and evidence scope

Source desk review: 14 October 2026. These primary destinations define their own statistical, account or publication objects. They do not document an FTM interview, respondent panel, private audit or successful trade. Exact values need their own original release, units, vintage and access record.
