Trader comparison framework: 2023 archive correction
Correction, 9 October 2026: this route previously asserted a completed comparative ranking, inspected trader submissions and broad external recognition without the source package needed to substantiate those statements. The ordering and those process claims are withdrawn. No replacement rank or audited result is invented.
Define the editorial question
A list can introduce trading approaches without proving a global ordering. Decide whether the subject is an account, a fund, a competition entry or a person's educational work. Those objects require different evidence. An institutional team result cannot automatically become a founder's personal performance, and a teaching achievement cannot supply a missing account-return series. A future feature should state the actual question before selecting a group of attractive examples.
Build a common observation window
Retain the covered dates, currency, costs, capital and source identity for every proposed entry. Full-year, quarterly and monthly figures cannot simply be sorted into one economically comparable table. A cumulative return does not recover leverage, open exposure, drawdown or volatility. Keep unavailable fields visible and explain which comparisons they block. Do not supply a plausible risk score from reputation or use a publication's older unsupported list as independent evidence for a newer one.
Declare the population and missing entrants
Save admission, withdrawal, closure and backfill rules. A current directory of successful names is not the original participant population. Historical missingness can remain unresolved without being converted into either success or failure. If the records support only a selected case study, publish that scope. A qualitative comparison of documented approaches can still be useful; it should not pretend to estimate a universal ranking or the success rate of all traders.
Worked example: an incomplete three-record panel
Invent a personal account showing 12% over a year after fees, a quarterly competition account showing 18% before fees and a fund showing 10% over a year in a different currency. Their headline percentages do not identify one common ranking object. The competition record lacks three quarters, the fund has a different account and mandate, and costs differ. The appropriate output is an evidence-gap table rather than a guessed annual return or weighted factor score. These fictional values are a design exercise, not new magazine findings.
Keep process claims tied to process records
Statements that the magazine interviewed, audited, tested or independently verified an entry require actual dated engagement and source records. An institutional byline is not a completed outside review. Likewise, publication age, readership, citations and industry recognition need their own evidence. Do not infer them from archive-style filenames or polished design. Legal ownership independence does not by itself confirm the absence of funding, referral or other material commercial relationships.
What a future evidence-led feature would publish
Include source links, account and period boundaries, fee and valuation conventions, the eligible cohort, missing fields, selection rationale and a correction trail. Freeze any scoring policy before seeing who it promotes. Where inputs are missing, leave a rank unassigned and distinguish supplied figures from reconstructed calculations. This corrected page is an editorial methodology note, not a completed study. The macro-thesis chapter provides a separate, practical hypothesis exercise with a blank worksheet.
A common ordering needs a common object
The annual route remains a comparison-framework correction. Its earlier rank order and completed-audit process claims lacked an authenticated entrant cohort and source package. Define whether the proposed comparison concerns accounts, funds, competition entries or educational work. Match periods, capital, costs and valuation before sorting outcomes. Missing entries remain missing rather than receive reputation-based factors. An actual new ordering needs a predeclared policy and reproducible source rows. This expansion does not reinstate the old league table or infer a financial winner from a selected personal record.
The editorial source dossier for this feature
Write the exact headline assertion, source issuer, covered interval, actual availability and transformation as separate fields. Then identify which authentic artifact was inspected and which remains a request. A primary method link can support a mechanism without supplying a private account, respondent register or original conversation. The new workbook makes that distinction concrete with three fully written fictional dossiers and ten teaching register events. Their actual data, transcripts, survey and audit fields remain null. A numerical bridge explains entered compatible levels only; it does not calculate a current economic statistic, forecast surprise or account result. This feature's original useful argument remains, with unperformed empirical access corrected rather than strengthened through plausible invented records. A later genuine source should have its own version and a scoped change to the conclusion, not silently authenticate the earlier manuscript.
